okay here’s my little bit on spring awakening at the playhouse:

I’m very critical of wendlas and ilses (maybe because they have big shoes to fill? I know that’s not fair but meh), but these girls nailed it. they had exactly the right attitudes and perfect voices for their roles and I’m so happy :’)

I’ve never met a moritz I didn’t like, and this was no exception. trevor chauvin was amazing and he was such a good fit for moritz. the moritz bits were the only things that made me start to tear up. also melchior! melchior was super and I loved his relationship dynamic with moritz. they worked really well together. this production did some weird things, including having moritz sit on the side of the stage all throughout intermission, crying and freaking out. I just wanted to go hug him.

they also had things going on during the show on the sides of the stage, which at times was a bit distracting from the music (kinda like when a bunch of stuff is happening in my junk and you don’t know where to look, except during every song), but it was all pretty emotional stuff so you wanted to pay attention to it (men threatening girls with guns, etc.)

I told my spring awakening-obsessed friend that hanschen was exactly like he would play him. an excellent level of creepy. oh! supporting cast shoutout: anna was really good and otto was hot.

I wrote a paper about these kinds of pools several years ago for a class when they were just prototypes. These pools have a natural filtration system that run based on the plants that are in the pool that give the water nutrients that allow it to not only be crystal clear, but you are also able to drink the water because it becomes so clean. And the best part is that once the initial filtration system is installed and calibrated, it maintains itself and eliminates the need for chlorine or constant maintenance like salt water pools.
